Textile Tarts

Northborough, MA

We are a club composed of doll-makers, from beginner to designer, who work primarily in cloth, clay, and mixed media.

We create art figures from Traditional to Avant Garde.

We inspire, motivate and support each other through sharing of ideas, technical information and resources. Our focus is on education and community. We draw on the talents of members and enhance our skills with national and international teachers from outside our club. We promote our member's work through magazine submissions, competitions like the Big E, and participating in workshops like AFICC and NAIDA.

We meet the second Saturday of the month, Noon-4PM, from September to June at the Public Library in Northborough, MA.

You can find us on Facebook . Just search for "Textile Tarts ".

We also publish a newsletter for members, "The Textile Tart Tattler" 5 times a year. We also endeavor to do one charity project per year and at least one challenge.

Our membership comes from mid New England...As far North as Sebago, Maine and Salisbury, NH, As far east as Dover, NH, As far west as Chicopee, MA and as far south as Bristol, RI. Several members who have moved away from New England still remain members through our newsletter, email, and Facebook!

If you live in the North East and are looking for a community of like-minded creatives, contact us on Facebook and join us for a meeting!

Our club exhibits each spring at The Friendship Heights Community Center, and each December at Strathmore Hall (an historic center for the arts), both of which are located in Maryland. Some of our members have exhibited at the Artisans Center of Virginia in Waynesboro, VA, and we were recently invited to participate in the holiday gift show at the Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. In 2002, The G Street Doll Club had the privilege of gifting Mrs. Laura Bush with a collection of patriotic dolls, made by members of our club. Our club also enjoys providing dolls for charities whenever possible, and have sent dolls to a variety of locations overseas, including Afghanistan. In 2006, we look forward to contributing a special collection of dolls to the American Heart Association which will be auctioned at their Annual Black Tie Gala, to be held at the Ritz-Carlton in McLean, VA.

The G Street Doll Club is also a member of Artisans United in Annandale, VA.

We have a lot of fun, and love new members, so please come join us anytime!! Please contact for further information.
